Deluge & Pre-action Systems

Two complementary Viking systems: the deluge system for rapid total discharge in high-hazard areas, and the pre-action system for protection against accidental water discharge in sensitive environments.

Deluge and pre-action: different uses, same platform

The valves, equipment and triggering devices are the same for both system types. The difference lies in their application: deluge systems allow total, rapid discharge across all open nozzles; pre-action systems add an electronic interlock to prevent accidental water release.

Deluge System

Uses manual, pneumatic, hydraulic or electrical detection. The Viking deluge valve (DN40 / 1½" to DN200 / 8") is a fast-opening valve with a single moving part, significantly less prone to accidental activation than mechanically armed valves.

Its unique design allows automatic reset without opening the valve, making it very popular with installers and maintenance personnel. The Viking flow control valve allows smooth opening and closing without water hammer, and is recommended for all flow control applications.

Pre-action System

Pre-action systems use the same valves, equipment and triggering devices as deluge systems. They are most often used to protect against accidental water discharge, or to accelerate the action of a dry pipe system.

Used in computer rooms, book storage areas, archives, museums, and other environments where accidental water release would cause unacceptable damage to the contents.
